(Patria) - The Government of Herzegovina-Neretva Canton (HNK) has decided to postpone the start of classes in primary and secondary schools for the 2025/2026 school year. Instead of the previously planned date, classes will begin on Monday, September 8.
The decision was made at a Government session in Mostar, at the proposal of the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture, and Sport, and in accordance with the requests of the Association of Principals and the Active Body of Primary and Secondary School Directors.
The explanation states that the postponement of the school year's start is necessary due to infrastructure works still ongoing in some schools, as well as due to unfavorable weather conditions, specifically the extremely high temperatures that characterized the previous weeks.
As announced by the cantonal government, this decision was made to ensure safe and adequate conditions for students and teaching staff at the beginning of the new school year.
