Courting of golden boys begins, first reception with leaders of Sarajevo Canton

Golden boys of Bosnia and Herzegovina, members of the cadet basketball team that won gold at the European Championship, were today at a reception with the Chairman of the Assembly of Sarajevo Canton Sejo Bukva, Prime Minister of Sarajevo Canton Elmedin Konaković and Minister of Culture and Sports of Sarajevo Canton Samer Rešidat, reports the Patria news agency.

Words of praise for the young basketball players were not lacking on that occasion.

-Thank you very much for what you have done, and I am already checking tickets for the World Championship in Spain, to continue, not to stop at this medal, said at the reception the Chairman of the Assembly of Sarajevo Canton and former basketball player Sejo Bukva.

Konaković, the Prime Minister and President of the Basketball Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina, along with congratulations to the golden boys on their victory, emphasized that they have completely shaken up sports relations in Europe, which allocates millions of euros for sports, and that they have won the title of European champions despite modest resources.

-On the map of Europe, we are one of the three strongest powers, and these are indisputable facts. Now we no longer have to convince anyone that support for the Basketball Federation and youth selections has a purpose, because the gold medal for the best ever result in basketball in our country, as well as 50,000 people last night on the streets of our city and hundreds of thousands in other cities, are indicators that no one can deny, stated Konaković.

The pride of our homeland shared their impressions from the championship court with the hosts, but also reminded them of the problems they faced in recent days. The common conclusion was that the golden boys need maximum support, and that it is necessary to find a systemic solution for financing national teams.

Minister Rešidat emphasized that the competent institutions in our country should make a financing plan for all national teams, because one-time aid for them is not a solution.

He pointed out that Sarajevo Canton, despite not having a large budget, will allocate part of the funds as a symbolic reward for the success achieved by these golden boys and the best ambassadors of our country, the Government of Sarajevo Canton announced.
