Independent Board Session Begins: Goran Zubac Arrives

The session of the Independent Board of the Parliamentary Assembly of BiH has begun, where the suspension of Goran Zubac, director of the State Investigation and Protection Agency (SIPA), who is accused of dereliction of duty, will be discussed, writes the Patria News Agency (NAP).

As reported by Patria's correspondent, Zubac arrived at the BiH Parliament building accompanied by his deputy Đuro Knežević and assistant Anđelko Hrgić. We also learned that other heads of police agencies, as well as the ministers of internal affairs of the FBiH, Predrag Kurteš, and the Canton of Sarajevo, Nermin Pećanac, have been invited to the session.

However, it is still uncertain whether this body will vote for Zubac's suspension, but some board members have even stated that if Zubac is not removed, their responsibility should be examined.

Otherwise, yesterday, the Deputy Minister of Security of BiH, Mladen Ćavar, issued a decision denying Goran Zubac access to classified information until the conclusion of the court proceedings against him.

In practice, this means that Zubac cannot perform his job at all, but Ćavar did not want to comment on this for now, stating in a statement to NAP that he has done his part of the job.

If the Independent Board does not vote for the suspension today, it means in practice that many investigations will be halted, and no one will actually have access to secret and top-secret information, at least when it comes to authorized persons who issue investigation orders with their signature.
