Distribution of 6,000 humanitarian Ramadan packages for socially vulnerable population and fasters in BiH begins

(Patria) - The Islamic Community in Bosnia and Herzegovina today began the distribution of 6,000 food packages for the socially vulnerable population and fasters in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

The packages were provided by the Waqf Directorate of the Islamic Community, in cooperation with the General Directorate of Waqfs of the Republic of Turkey, and will be distributed by the Office for Social Welfare of the Rijaseta of the Islamic Community, the Association of Ilmiyya, and the International Forum Emmaus.

- As the Waqf Directorate, we are especially happy that for several years now we have had the opportunity to participate in this noble mission of distributing Ramadan packages throughout Bosnia and Herzegovina.

We thank our friends from the General Directorate of Waqfs of Turkey who have provided Ramadan packages this year as well - said Amela Trako-Mahmutović, secretary of the Waqf Directorate.

According to Halil Ibrahim Sezer from the General Directorate of Waqfs of the Republic of Turkey, this project has been implemented for 13 years and is based on the provisions of earlier waqifs, who stipulated such activities in their waqf deeds.

- These packages, which have traveled thousands of kilometers to reach Bosnia, are not just food packages for people in need for us, but they are a greeting and support from the Turkish people.

I hope that those who receive these packages will see them in the same way, not just as basic food items, but as solidarity, support, and greetings from our brothers from Turkey - said Sezer.

The distributed packages are rich in content with basic food items, which, as the organizers of the activity emphasize, will help beneficiaries during the period of rising food prices and ease the burden on the population's budget, especially during the month of Ramadan.

- Today's distribution brought joy to various associations, individuals in need, and pensioners. The remaining packages will be distributed in the areas of all muftishayas and three medžlises. The packages are of very good quality and are much appreciated during this month of Ramadan.

Furthermore, the Office for Social Welfare continuously distributes food packages, striving to alleviate the current social situation, in addition to other forms of assistance - stated Emina Bešlija, a professional associate at the Office for Social Welfare.

In addition to individual assistance, this activity is also aimed at strengthening associations focused on specific social categories. As they note, it is important to help individuals who knock on our door, but it is equally important to support associations that systematically help hundreds of families.

Present members of the associations expressed their gratitude, noting that thanks to such forms of support, they ease their daily lives. They describe this project as a strong sign that the community is not indifferent.

- We are endlessly grateful, because every year we receive packages for Ramadan, as well as sacrificial meat for socially sensitive members of the Union of Civil War Victims of Sarajevo Canton.

Unfortunately, the Union has a large number of members, so the help of good people is always welcome, especially in these times when these large humanitarian organizations have turned their attention to Gaza.
