Verification of candidate lists and candidates for the 2024 Local Elections has begun

(Patria) - At today's session, the Central Election Commission of BiH, reviewing the Report on the verification of candidate lists and candidates of political parties and coalitions for participation in the 2024 Local Elections, has begun the process of verifying candidate lists and candidates who meet the legally prescribed conditions.

The deadline for submitting candidate lists of political parties and coalitions expired on 08.07.2024 at 16:00.

A total of 168 political entities submitted candidate lists for participation in the 2024 Local Elections, comprising 1,899 candidate lists with 26,123 candidates (including independent candidates and lists of independent candidates).

Following the verification, it was determined that 1,831 candidate lists meet the conditions for verification, while 68 candidate lists were found to have deficiencies and irregularities (gender representation not in accordance with the law, withdrawal of candidacy, candidate not residing in the electoral unit for which they are running, and others).

The Central Election Commission of Bosnia and Herzegovina will notify political entities to rectify irregularities on the candidate lists within five days of receiving the notification, by replacing candidates or providing additional documentation.

Please note that the deadline for publishing verified candidate lists in official gazettes and public information media is August 22, 2024.
