Restoration of BiH Archives Begins After Fire

The restoration of the BiH Archives began a few days ago, with the complete renovation of the depot that was damaged during the protests on February 7th, when the BiH Presidency building was set on fire, reports the BiH news agency Patria.

As confirmed by the BiH Archives for Patria, with the help of donors, installations and floors are being renovated, new carpentry is being installed, and wooden boards have been on the windows for five months, which will soon be replaced.

We were unable to obtain more information as the Director of the BiH Archives, Dušan Vržina, is on annual leave.

The damage caused to the BiH Archives is considered priceless by experts, as numerous valuable collections were destroyed. The most affected archival material is from the Austro-Hungarian period, including the Austro-Hungarian General Consulate from 1835, the Provincial Government of Sarajevo, minutes from the sessions of the Provincial Governments of Sarajevo, material created during the Kingdom of Serbs, Croats, and Slovenes and the Kingdom of Yugoslavia, the National Government of SHS, the Provincial Government, part of the material from the Royal Ban Administration, and some material created by the authorities of the so-called Independent State of Croatia, as well as some material related to private funds and collections and material from well-known BiH families, writes NAP.
