Mandatory use of winter equipment on roads in Bosnia and Herzegovina begins

(Patria) - In most of Bosnia and Herzegovina, traffic is moving on wet or damp roads, and drivers are advised to exercise increased caution due to frequent landslides. On certain sections, especially in valleys and across mountain passes, fog and low cloud cover are locally reducing visibility.

From today, November 1, possession and use of winter equipment is mandatory on all roads in Bosnia and Herzegovina, regardless of weather conditions.

On the M-17 main road, near Zenica, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., due to finishing works, traffic is moving slowly between the Zenica south toll plaza and the settlement of Perin Han.

On the Dobro Polje–Miljevina main road, at the location of Sijeračke stijene, landslide remediation is underway, so from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., there will be occasional traffic stoppages of up to 45 minutes.

Due to asphalt paving, traffic is suspended on the Srbac–Derventa section, and vehicles are being redirected to the alternative route Srbac–Prnjavor–Derventa. Temporary suspensions also apply on the Ostrožac–Buturović Polje regional road, where the use of detour routes is recommended.

Works are also being carried out on several sections: the A-1 motorway Podlugovi–Sarajevo north, and the main roads Semizovac–Olovo, Bileća–Trebinje (Žudojevići), Zenica–Doboj (Donja Vraca–Liješnica), Zavidovići–Vozuća (Krivaja), Klašnice–Banja Luka, Jablanica–Blidinje (Kosne Luke), Konjic–Jablanica (Ostrožac), Jablanica–Prozor (Mirci), Gacko–Foča (Sastavci), Mostar–Čitluk (entrance to Čitluk), Jajce–Crna Rijeka, and at the entrance to Neum.

On the Žepče–Maglaj main road, at the location of Ozimica, due to road damage, traffic is moving slowly.

On the occasion of the religious holiday "All Saints' Day", today from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., traffic is suspended on the M-14.2 main road Orašje–Šamac, at the locality of Donja Mahala "Šibovače".

On the Vrbaška–Mrakovica regional road, at the location of Vučjak, traffic is moving in one lane, with alternating vehicle passage due to a landslide.

At border crossings, waiting times for passenger vehicles are no longer than 30 minutes, but due to the introduction of the new European registration system (EES – Entry/Exit System), longer waits are possible.

The Brčko border crossing is open for passenger vehicles up to 3.5 tons, while at the Karakaj crossing near Zvornik, traffic is banned for vehicles heavier than 5 tons. Freight vehicles are being redirected to the Bratunac or Rača crossings, and buses may use the GP Šepak crossing. Freight vehicles can cross via GP Šepak during the hours of 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. and 10 p.m. to 6 a.m., and on weekends from 10 p.m. to 6 a.m.
