The Association for Progressive Development of Organizations and Individuals (PROI) from Sarajevo has launched the "It bothers me" campaign, aiming to reduce the number of smokers in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
According to data from this Association, almost 44 percent of adult residents in FBiH are regular smokers, with one in two men and one in three women being smokers.
Bosnia and Herzegovina ranks high above European countries when it comes to cigarette consumption. According to incomplete data, around 1,000 people fall ill annually due to cigarettes in FBiH alone, and this number could be even higher.
Furthermore, in BiH, smoking is responsible for more than 95 percent of lung cancer cases! What is also concerning is that an increasing number of young people in BiH are developing lung cancer, mostly young people who start smoking in primary school.
Many countries around the world are celebrating "National No Tobacco Day" today, writes Patria.
