Implementation of Reform Programme obligations in BiH begins

(Patria) - As part of its activities, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of BiH has begun actively implementing the obligations arising from the BiH Defence Review document in the part relating to the exclusive jurisdiction of the MFA, as well as obligations that the Ministry shares with other institutions.

Working groups have been formed within the Ministry, tasked with achieving the goals of the BiH Reform Programme 2019-2020. Certain international and regional activities related to the comprehensive control of small arms and light weapons (SALW) and the chairmanship of the Permanent Working Group of the Sub-regional Consultative Commission of the Arms Control Agreement (Annex 1B, Article IV, General Framework Agreement for Peace in BiH) have already been carried out with the Ministry of Security of BiH and the Ministry of Defence of BiH.

The Minister of Foreign Affairs of BiH, Bisera Turković, reminded that the BiH Reform Programme has been accepted by NATO.

"This document is considered fully operational and NATO expects its full implementation from BiH, i.e., the fulfillment of what BiH committed to by sending this document to NATO headquarters in Brussels. 'The NATO Political Committee, by its conclusions of 16.01.2020, accepted the proposed BiH Reform Programme, and NATO representatives will no longer comment on it but will actively monitor its implementation'," the statement reads.

The MFA of BiH appeals to all competent institutions in BiH, to whom obligations and tasks for achieving the set goals have been entrusted by the BiH Reform Programme document, to proceed with the implementation of activities so that the public and competent authorities can be timely informed about the achievements at the upcoming meetings of BiH and NATO officials.

"At the same time, the Ministry informs the institutions participating in the work of the Commission for NATO Integration Processes of BiH that the Commission continues with regular activities within its scope of work, and invites the institutions that have delegated members to the Commission to notify in a timely manner if there have been any changes to the names of their Commission members," the statement says.
