Second phase of Ferhadija Street renovation begins in Centar

After obtaining the necessary approvals and consents from the Ministry of Transport of Sarajevo Canton regarding the temporary change of pedestrian traffic regime on the part of Ferhadija belonging to the Centar municipality, on Tuesday, 27 October 2015, works officially began on the reconstruction of the second part of this street from Ćemaluša to the „Eternal Flame“ memorial in Titova Street, reports the Patria news agency.  

 

The Centar municipality is the financier of the project in the amount of 440,000 KM, while the contractor is the company „Sela“, and supervision is carried out by the company „Coning“ from Sarajevo.

As envisaged by the main project, prepared by the public company „Zenica“, during the execution of works, after the removal of slabs and the base, the reconstruction of the water supply network will be carried out first in order to create conditions for proper water supply to the surrounding residential and commercial buildings.

On this part of Ferhadija, a path for the movement of blind and partially sighted persons will also be marked.

-Utility companies have been informed to replace their infrastructure installations before the final works, i.e., before the construction of the concrete substructure and the laying of granite slabs. As experience from the first phase of the Ferhadija reconstruction between Gajev trg and Ćemaluša, which was completed last year, has shown, after this there will be no need for subsequent interventions to repair any broken or damaged slabs, said Đenita Bogunić-Kešelj from the Department for Spatial Planning and Communal Affairs. 

Works began at this time of year when the number of tourists in the city is reduced and there are fewer pedestrians passing through this part of Ferhadija, and their completion is expected in 75 days, which of course depends mostly on weather conditions, while the contractor will try to finish this project by the end of this year.

The temporary change of the pedestrian traffic regime on this part of Ferhadija is valid from 26 October until 9 January next year, it was announced from the Centar municipality.
