(Patria) - On the orders of the BiH Prosecutor's Office, in an operation conducted together with the RS Ministry of Internal Affairs, Izet Beganović, Adnan Kelecija and Sadik Kevrić were arrested in a high-level organized crime case, the BiH Prosecutor's Office announced.
The statement states that the mentioned trio was deprived of liberty because there is a basis for suspicion that they committed the criminal offense of organized crime under Article 250 of the Criminal Code of BiH, in connection with the criminal offense of unauthorized trafficking of narcotic drugs under Article 195 of the Criminal Code of BiH.
Evidence from encrypted applications was also used in the investigation.
Media previously reported that searches were carried out at several locations in Banja Luka and Brčko as part of the operation, mainly concerning properties used by the suspects.
This is an international operation that has been in the works for years, involving investigative bodies from the Czech Republic and Austria. In the earlier period, they seized large quantities of drugs on their territory, and several BiH citizens connected to Beganović and his associates were also apprehended. Some of them have been finally convicted and have even served sentences for drug trafficking.
Beganović has been a person of security interest since before the war, and he was mainly involved in gambling businesses and organizing gambling in the Czech Republic.
