Spitting on Hippocrates in Mostar: Medical help only if you are from the so-called West Mostar!

MOSTAR, (Patria) - Mufti Seid efendija Smajkić published a story just before the New Year that proves Mostar, a city of chance, is still deeply divided and that it is urgently necessary to resolve the accumulated problems in this city and finally enable elections and the democratic rights of citizens. “I experienced an unpleasant and sad event that I thought I would keep silent about and keep to myself, not wanting to disturb the public, because there is already too much perverse, stupid and primitive behavior daily tied to Mostar, so why would I add another to those stupidities and uncivilized behavior of individuals. However, since it concerns a person's health, a human being, and the lack of care by the responsible institution in that regard, whose leaders have sworn to act humanely and compassionately towards everyone in need of medical assistance that they are able to provide, and so that this would never happen to anyone again, I decided, nevertheless, to inform the wider public about this case.

Namely, with my adult son who had a high fever, I sought medical service at the Emergency Service station on Bulevar, because I live in the immediate vicinity of this health institution, albeit on the other side of Bulevar - the demarcation line during the war - and received a "RED CARD". After checking the documents and realizing that we were coming FROM THE OTHER SIDE OF THE WAR LINE, the answer was: "Your doctor is there, go to Carina." Since it was an emergency, we did not ask additional questions, but headed to the so-called "our side" and received the requested service. The fact that healthcare in Mostar and the Herzegovina-Neretva Canton is unified, that there is only one Health Insurance Institute, that we possess unique health insurance cards, that in this specific case it was an emergency intervention, etc., did not help. More important than all of that were the patient's NATIONAL BLOOD CELLS, and that from humanitarians, healthcare workers.

All of this reminded me of an extremely inhumane and sad case from a little over a decade ago, when in a traffic accident near Buna on the Mostar-Čapljina road, two drivers were injured in a collision between a passenger car and a truck. One with minor injuries (the truck driver), and the other - the driver of the passenger car with serious injuries. When the emergency service from the so-called West Mostar arrived and checked the identities of the injured persons, they took care of the less injured driver (CROAT), and told the more seriously injured one (BOSNIAK): "Wait for your medical team to assist you."

Such incident behavior, even if it involves individuals, introduces additional unrest and distrust among the citizens, and this must, for the common good, be energetically sanctioned and eliminated in every way. And not only in healthcare but also in other sectors of social and public activity, of course, if it is noticed and appears. On the other hand, from personal experience and that of numerous friends, I can present a very positive attitude of the University Clinical Hospital regarding patient admissions, which does not suffer from the perverse, retrograde division: OURS AND YOURS, and which provides its services correctly and professionally to all patients who are referred to that address. The message of this case is that it is the task of all progressive, tolerant, responsible and conscientious people to work on correcting the anomalies of poisoned nationalist consciousness and to establish a proper, correct, quality and humane relationship among people, which is a civic and religious obligation.
