Resignations pour in at SDP: After Nikšić, Damir Hadžić also leaves all party positions

Current Federal Prime Minister Nermin Nikšić has resigned as Secretary General of the SDP due to the party's electoral fiasco in the recently held General Elections, the Bosnian news agency Patria learns.

Sources close to the SDP have confirmed that Nikšić stated in his written explanation that the resignation is his personal act, a response to the election result, and a responsibility towards the SDP.  

Nikšić clarified that he remains a member of the SDP and will do everything in the coming period through party bodies, as well as the upcoming Congress, to help the SDP emerge stronger after all this. 

New information that has emerged suggests that Nikšić will most likely be a candidate for the top position of the Social Democratic Party of Bosnia and Herzegovina. There is still no official information about the party Congress, but it is evident that the electoral debacle has prompted SDP members to make significant changes within the party. 

However, after Nikšić, Damir Hadžić also resigned from all party positions, and Hamdija Lipovača is expected to do the same.

In the evening hours, a meeting of the SDP's top leadership began, and the session of the Main Board will be held next Saturday. What dissatisfied leaders are demanding is the resignation of Zlatko Lagumdžija. An extraordinary Congress will be held in about 20 days, where the turbulent atmosphere in the party should be resolved.
