Three batches of “Pliva’s” Betrion ointment for treating skin conditions will be withdrawn from sale due to defects, announced the Croatian Agency for Medicinal Products and Medical Devices (HALMED), reports the Patria news agency.
The company “Pliva” is the holder of the marketing authorization for the medicinal product Betrion (mupirocin), HALMED states, adding that batches 331104, 332104, and 131084 of the said medicinal product are being withdrawn due to potential penicillin contamination, reports the regional portal Seebiz.
As stated, the suspicion of defect is based on possible penicillin contamination of the active substance mupirocin, batch W656993, which was used in the production of the said three batches.
The withdrawal is being carried out at the wholesale level, and according to data available to HALMED, the said batches of the medicinal product are no longer available in wholesale.
