The response of the FBiH Government to the announcement by Sarajevo-gas from East Sarajevo that they will suspend gas supply to the Federation is “IT IS EXTREMELY INAPPROPRIATE”.

The Minister of Communal Economy, Infrastructure, Spatial Planning, Construction and Environmental Protection Bojan Bošnjak, the Executive Director for Technical Affairs of Sarajevogas Adnan Đugum, and the Director of Toplane Sarajevo Sejfo Ušanović addressed the media.

The relevant minister Bojan Bošnjak said that he felt the need to reassure the public about the new situation.

"We have intensive communication with everyone in the decision-making chain regarding our federal bodies. We are making all scenarios from the early morning hours. I am sending a message to the citizens not to panic and I call for responsibility. All people involved in the decision-making system need to show a degree of responsibility. We will try to ensure that our citizens who use gas do not suffer. Since this morning, we have been in communication with the teams of Sarajevogas and Toplane," stated Bošnjak, reports Klix.

"The minister announced a potential problem. We have been in talks since yesterday and I hope the problem will not occur. If it does, Toplane, as every year, is ready with alternative fuel. Our capacities for heating oil and fuel oil are filled and will last for 15 to 20 days. These are not small quantities of alternative fuel. I must point out that our capacities are full and we have several million liters of heating oil and fuel oil in storage," said Ušanović.

He noted that 15 percent of Toplane's customers cannot be heated with alternative fuels, and these are new buildings, including those in the Dobrinja and Breka settlements.

The Executive Director for Technical Affairs of "Sarajevogas" Adnan Đugum said that, unlike Toplane, Sarajevogas has no alternative for even a single day.

"We, without exaggerating, would be without gas in less than a day. I want to emphasize, one day without gas, three or five is the same. It's not like electricity. I call on everyone, because the problem is not technical, there is gas and there will be gas at the border, not to reach a situation where we leave our users without gas because it will not be a day, or a week. East Sarajevo will also be left without gas, and I hope that will not happen," concluded Đugum.
