Pleše warns: My father died in 2006 but is still on the voter list in Novo Sarajevo

Candidate of Our Party for the Novo Sarajevo Municipal Council and current councilor Robert Pleše warns the public, based on his own example, that pre-election engineering is being prepared in Sarajevo as well. On the voter lists, says Pleše, there are names of people who died 10 years ago, reports the Patria news agency. 

-My father Mirko Pleše died in 2006. From then until today, he still has not been removed from the voter lists. I noticed this after the 2012 local elections when I asked the municipal services to react.

Two years later, in the 2014 general elections, he was again on the voter list, and I again initiated a request to have his name, as well as the names of other deceased citizens, removed from the voter list. However, this has not been done to this day, and in the upcoming 2016 local elections, my father, along with thousands of other deceased citizens of BiH, will again be on the voter lists, meaning there will again be the possibility of manipulating votes in their name.

Besides undermining legality, the more important dimension is the human one, which is that the authorities are callously and insolently playing with and desecrating the memories of our loved ones.

On this occasion, I want to clearly and loudly name those responsible, namely: municipal services, registry offices, municipal election commissions, CIPS and IDEEA. Specifically in the case of my father, the biggest culprit is IDEEA, which certainly received the information because I personally initiated the procedure, but apparently did nothing.

I appeal again, on my own behalf and on behalf of thousands of citizens of Bosnia and Herzegovina, that state services and agencies do the job for which they are handsomely paid, and that they no longer put us in a situation where, when voting, we see the names of our dead on the voter lists and think about who will and how they will abuse their identity, all to dishonorably and unfairly keep the salaries and seats they have occupied. To those who are ready to get a few more votes in elections in such a way, I can only say one thing: Shame on you, said Pleše.
