Plenković arrives in Mostar: Meeting with Čović and HDZ delegation scheduled

(Patria) - Prime Minister of the Republic of Croatia, Andrej Plenković, will visit Mostar on April 7 and 8 on the occasion of the 26th Mostar International Economy Fair 2025, the Government of the Republic of Croatia announced, where he will also address the attendees. The opening of the Mostar Fair is planned for April 8.

Plenković is coming to BiH at a time of political crisis caused by the anti-constitutional actions of Milorad Dodik, and this evening a meeting will be held with the leader of HDZ, Dragan Čović, and a delegation of this party.

Although the process of government restructuring at the state level began at the end of March, in which the opposition from RS would enter instead of SNSD, there is no official agreement. The alliance between HDZ and SNSD is still strong and was evident at the session of the House of Peoples of the BiH Parliament on April 4. The new meeting scheduled with the opposition and the Trojka for April 10 in Banja Luka has been cancelled, and there is still no official confirmation of when it might be held.

HDZ has used the current crisis in BiH to impose the amendment of the Election Law as a topic, which is also a condition for the new state government.

Plenković will be accompanied during his visit by the Minister of Foreign and European Affairs of the Republic of Croatia, Gordan Grlić Radman, the Minister of Economy of the Republic of Croatia, Ante Šušnjar, and the State Secretary of the Central Office for Croats Outside the Republic of Croatia, Zvonko Milas.

On Tuesday, Plenković will meet with the Bishop of Mostar-Duvno and Apostolic Administrator of Trebinje-Mrkan, mons. Petar Palić. After the meeting, in his presence, the Contract for the project "Infrastructure Projects" of the Mostar-Duvno and Trebinje-Mrkan Dioceses will be signed. The contract will be signed by mons. Palić and State Secretary Milas.
