Platini admits he took 1.8 million euros from Blatter without any contract!

UEFA President Michel Platini has admitted that there was no written contract for the disputed payment of 1.8 million euros he received from FIFA President Sepp Blatter, reports the news agency Patria.

Platini stated in an interview published on Monday by the newspaper "Le Monde" that he received 1.8 million euros from Blatter in 2011 based on a "verbal agreement."

-In any case, I learned that in Swiss law, a verbal agreement has the same value as a written contract, added the UEFA president, who considers it "shameful that he is being dragged through the mud." 

-It was a matter between two men. He was supposed to become president of FIFA. FIFA! I trusted him, said Platini, implying that Blatter is behind this payment, for which FIFA's ethics committee suspended both for 90 days.

-But even if he wanted to politically kill me, I hold affection for him because of everything we have been through together, he added, noting that he has not given up the fight for the FIFA presidency.

Whether it is a written contract or an implied agreement is the central question since it was revealed that Platini was paid 1.8 million euros in 2011 for consultancy work carried out between 1999 and 2002.

The lack of a contract could lead European associations that have expressed support for Platini's candidacy for FIFA president to withdraw it, as the English Football Association (FA) did on Friday, writes Index.
