Maja Alikadić is the best female hiker in 2015, chosen by the Association for Support and Development of Sports Tourism “Avantur” from Sarajevo, reports the Patria news agency.
Although a young hiker, Maja traversed hundreds of kilometers of mountain trails across Bosnia and Herzegovina and the region in one year. She visited more than 20 of the most attractive peaks in the country.
- The mountains Maglić, Zelengora, and Prenj left the biggest impression on me. And, Zelena glava on Prenj particularly impressed me. I always gladly return to it, and it amazes me anew every time – hiker Maja told Patria.
Maja's love for mountains is not accidental. Her grandfather Džemal Repak was a renowned Bosnian hiker. He is one of the founders of the Mountain Rescue Service in Mostar in the 1970s.
- The most beautiful thing young people can give themselves is hiking. Once you fall in love with the mountains, it's hard to give them up – said Maja.
The Director of the Avantur Association, Muamer Drugovac, reminded that the Association brings together hikers, alpinists, speleologists, cyclists... It was founded three years ago. Avantur members work every day to promote sports tourism in Bosnia and Herzegovina, which is very important for people's psychophysical health.
Hiker Asif Berkovac received an award for his contribution to the promotion and work of Avantur in 2015.
