Pedestrian bridge on Dobrinja completely dark at night: Citizens fear stray dogs and thieves

The pedestrian bridge on Dobrinja, which connects two busy streets, Trg djece Dobrinje and Emila Zole, has been in complete darkness for an extended period, making crossing it a challenge even for the bravest, writes the Bosnian news agency Patria.

Given that stray dogs also gather under this bridge, residents of this part of Dobrinja are outraged by the situation.

- The bridge used to have lighting along its entire length, but vandals destroyed it. But now not a single light works so we can at least see where we are going – one resident of Dobrinja complained.

A mosque is located near the bridge, so worshippers going to the evening and night prayers carry flashlights to see where they are going.

- My grandson bought me a flashlight, but this can't go on like this. I just keep an eye out for stray dogs or, God forbid, thieves. Anything can happen in this darkness – said an elderly resident.

Moreover, the bridge railing is also quite damaged, which is an additional reason for fear. Since this bridge connects Dobrinja 3 with Dobrinja 2, many children cross it daily on their way to school. However, at night, parents wait for them near the bridge so they won't get scared.

- The situation is really unpleasant; while waiting for the children, we can't see a hand in front of our face. I call on the authorities to react urgently and ensure a safe crossing over the bridge – said one parent, emphasizing that he himself sometimes takes a longer route just to avoid crossing this bridge.

The reconstruction project of this bridge, when LED lighting was installed several years ago, was carried out by the Novi Grad Municipality, but today it is the black hole of Dobrinja.
