Pivić: New salary increase for doctors and healthcare workers in ZDK soon

(Patria) - The signing of new collective agreements for doctors and healthcare workers in the Zenica-Doboj Canton (ZDK) is planned for the coming days, which will include salary increases and a range of additional benefits, stated ZDK Prime Minister Nezir Pivić today.

Pivić stated at a ceremonial academy on the occasion of the International Nurses Day in Zenica that the dignity of healthcare workers must also be shown through a better material position, which the cantonal government is continuously working on.

- Our goal is not only to build new facilities and procure equipment. We want to build a modern and strong healthcare system in which every patient will receive quality healthcare, and every healthcare worker will have the dignity they deserve.

We want to send a clear message that we value your work, knowledge, and responsibility - said the ZDK Prime Minister.

He congratulated everyone on the occasion of the International Nurses Day, stating that this is not just a date on the calendar, but an opportunity to express words of gratitude and support to all nurses and technicians for their humanity, patience, expertise, and selfless care for people.

- You are the foundation of the healthcare system, important support for patients, and an indispensable part of every medical team. And indeed, there is no successful healthcare system without people who, daily, quietly and diligently, carry the greatest burden of healthcare.

Your job is not just a profession, it is a calling, the strength to remain calm when families lose hope. It is the warmth of words in moments of fear. It is humanity that no technology can replace.

Therefore, I want to clearly state that investing in healthcare is not an expense. It is an investment in life, in the safety of our citizens, and in the dignity of every person seeking help from the healthcare system - said Pivić.

He noted that the ZDK Government is committed to providing healthcare workers with better working conditions and patients with higher quality and more dignified healthcare.

Precisely for this reason, he added, major projects for the modernization of the healthcare system have been initiated, primarily the Cantonal Hospital Zenica.

- I especially want to emphasize that we have started the realization of a historic and generational project of the new Cantonal Hospital Zenica, a project of public interest for the entire canton, with a total estimated value of around 300 million euros.

The first phase of the investment, worth around 40 million KM, has already begun, within which new facilities are being built and working and treatment conditions are being improved, including the construction of a new Oncology building - said Pivić.

At the ceremony, an agreement on cooperation between the Chamber of Nurses-Technicians of ZDK and the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Zenica was signed, and awards were presented to distinguished members of this chamber.
