Pivić: We will continue to invest even more strongly in sports, our athletes deserve the best conditions for new victories and successes

(Patria) - The Prime Minister of the Zenica-Doboj Canton (ZDK) Nezir Pivić attended the event for the ZDK Athlete of the Year for 2025 tonight, which celebrates the best among us, those who, through their work, discipline, and sacrifice, push boundaries and carry the name of ZDK throughout BiH and the world.



- This is not just an award for athlete of the year. This is an evening of recognition for effort, perseverance, and the belief that top results do not happen by chance; they are the result of daily struggle, work, and sacrifice - said Pivić.

He emphasizes that the ZDK Government clearly and decisively stands behind sports - not declaratively, but with concrete measures and record investments.



- This year, we are allocating the historically largest funds for sports, a total of about six million convertible marks, thereby confirming our commitment to systematically strengthen and develop sports.



All major sporting events are increasingly moving to Zenica today. This is also thanks to our mayor, the late Husejin Smajlović, a visionary who left behind a strong sports infrastructure that no other city in Bosnia and Herzegovina has.



The athletics stadium, Bilino polje Stadium, the auxiliary stadium at Kamberovića polje, the Training Center of the Football Association of BiH, as well as the beautiful Arena where major European-level basketball games will soon be played - all these are reasons why we should continue to invest in sports and create conditions for such events to happen precisely in the heart of Bosnia and Herzegovina - in Zenica.



I can announce that the indoor swimming pool at the Industrial School in Zenica will also be operational soon. That is why we will continue to invest even more strongly in sports, because our athletes deserve the best conditions for new victories and successes - added Pivić.
