Pivić and Huskić Congratulate Citizens on the Day of Zenica-Doboj Canton

(Patria) - The Prime Minister of Zenica-Doboj Canton, Nezir Pivić, and the Speaker of the Assembly, Ćazim Huskić, congratulated the citizens on the occasion of August 29 - the Day of Zenica-Doboj Canton, and invited them to continue preserving and strengthening the state together so that Zenica-Doboj Canton remains the backbone of the economy of the Federation of BiH and the state of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

They reminded that on August 29, 1189, Ban Kulin issued a charter to the Duke of Dubrovnik, guaranteeing him freedom of trade in Bosnia, and this is the oldest preserved written document and confirmation of Bosnian statehood.

- That is why we have been celebrating August 29 as the Day of the Canton since 2013. The charter is a confirmation that Bosnia in the 12th century was a state with established institutions - Pivić and Huskić stated.

Today, they added, nine centuries later, institutions have equal, if not even greater, significance, because in a parliamentary democracy system, institutions are key to the functioning of a legal state, based on the rule of law and rights.

The obligation of all of us, they emphasized, who hold positions in government is to protect institutions and to fight for all citizens to have equal rights and quality living conditions. This is also the priority of the current Government and Assembly of Zenica-Doboj Canton, as demonstrated by concrete measures and development projects throughout the Canton.
