Pirić: A total of 7,877 candidates, verification lasts until August 8

Yesterday at 4 PM, the deadline expired for verified political entities participating in the 2014 General Elections to submit their candidate lists, and as announced by the Central Election Commission (CEC), according to their preliminary review, a total of 7,877 candidates have applied on the candidate lists of political entities, writes the Patria News Agency.

According to this review, the SDP, as emphasized yesterday by Svetozar Pudarić, President of the Main Board of the SDP, is the party with the largest number of candidates, totaling 595, while the SDA is running in the General Elections with 458 candidates. The Alliance for a Better Future – Fahrudin Radončić has proposed 411 candidates, and the SNSD – Milorad Dodik has 215 candidates.

As Maksida Pirić, spokesperson for the CEC, told NAP, they only have this data at the moment, but they are working intensively further.

- In accordance with the Election Law of BiH and the Instructions on the order and deadlines of electoral activities, the Central Election Commission of BiH will, by August 8, verify and finally certify candidates and candidate lists that meet the legally prescribed conditions. After that, and no later than August 28, the candidate lists will be published in official gazettes and public information media – says Pirić.
