Pilav: Seasonal flu activity expected, no easing of measures

SARAJEVO, (Patria) – Aida Pilav, president of the Crisis Staff of the Ministry of Health of KS, said at today's press conference that from 30.01. to 24.09. in KS, 4,518 people have been registered as ill, and 4,208 have recovered.

"Currently, there are 229 active cases, and a total of 81 deaths. The number of new infections in seven days is 122, and the reproduction number is 0.69, which means that one newly infected person does not infect any other person. The largest number of infected individuals are in the age group of 36 to 50 years, followed by 19 to 35 years," said Pilav.

She emphasized that we are in a period of seasonal change when the activity of seasonal flu is expected.

"These results must not be a reason for relaxation; the virus is still here. We are working continuously to implement public health measures correctly. The largest number of sick individuals are in family clusters. In most cases, the first infected person in a family gets infected at work in the office. Infected individuals say they do not maintain distance and do not use masks," she explained.

Pilav called on citizens to reduce travel to endangered countries to the minimum possible.

"Let these trips be for necessary situations in order to maintain a quite good epidemiological situation in the coming period. In this period, there will certainly be no relaxation of public health measures," added Pilav.
