Pilav: We Are Moving Towards Slowing Down the Epidemic

SARAJEVO, (Patria) - The President of the Crisis Staff of the Ministry of Health of Canton Sarajevo, Aida Pilav, said at today's press conference that the current epidemiological situation in Canton Sarajevo is satisfactory.

The reproduction number is around 1 in Canton Sarajevo and it is moving in the direction of slowing down the epidemic. This number represents the number of people to whom one infected person can transmit the virus. It is now below one, i.e. 0.99.

A monthly analysis of the situation caused by the spread of the new coronavirus, prepared by the Institute for Public Health of Canton Sarajevo, was also presented.

She praised the population of Canton Sarajevo for properly implementing health-epidemiological measures. She announced the adjustment of measures.

"With the change in this situation, we will adjust public health measures, and this particularly concerns the issue of school attendance," said Pilav.

In Canton Sarajevo, a total of 37,206 tests have been performed so far. The number of patients requiring hospitalization in the last 14 days is between five and eight percent of the total number of active cases.

There are more infected males, 54 percent, compared to 46 percent females.

Regarding age groups, the highest number of infected was between 36 and 50 years old (1,237), followed by those aged 19 to 35 - 1,171.
