Piknjač and Pehlivanović to represent Bosnia and Herzegovina at the World Billiards Championship

SARAJEVO, (Patria) - For the first time in history, Bosnia and Herzegovina will have its representatives at the World Billiards Championship.

Our representatives will be Ajdin Piknjač and Sanjin Pehlivanović, who are the youngest competitors of this year's championship.

These excellent young players are full of confidence and believe they are ready to showcase their skills at the biggest billiards competition. Of course, they already have numerous successes behind them.

Ajdin Piknjač is a member of the Predator Billiards Club. He is the winner of two bronze medals at the 2019 European Championship. He is a vice-champion in several disciplines in 2018 and 2019. He is fifth in the Balkan Pool Tour.

The competition is expectedly strong, but our representatives hope that their hard work and daily multi-hour training sessions will show that they are among the best in this sport.

“Expectations are not too high because all the world players are playing there, those who have been around longer, who are experienced and who have been on that scene for maybe 10 years. We are the youngest pair there,” explains Piknjač.

They may be the youngest, but they are certainly among the best. This is confirmed by 19-year-old Sanjin Pehlivanović with his long-standing career and a series of successes he has achieved so far: “The crown of my career is the 2017 World Junior Championship. I am an 8-time European champion. Numerous national, international and Balkan champion, winner of numerous European tournaments.”

Pehlivanović got to know and love billiards through his father, who is now also his coach. Since he was a little boy, he has been winning gold at prestigious competitions.

“I became the youngest European champion in the history of billiards, at just under 12 years old. That was my second European Championship. The first was in Sarajevo, and the second in Portorož, Slovenia. That is a moment I will remember for the rest of my life,” he says.

His father and coach Senad Pehlivanović certainly has reason to be proud and undoubtedly believes in the success of these young players: “We are going to compete and that is our job. Given that we are representing the country, you have an additional motive, additional strength that, as they say, comes from the side and that is the deciding factor where a person gives 300% and everything is possible.”

32 teams will participate in the biggest billiards competition. Bosnia and Herzegovina certainly has reason to expect a good result. The World Championship is held in Milton Keynes, England, from May 9 to 14.
