PIC held a session in Srebrenica due to the 30th anniversary of the genocide: Citizens of Bosnia and Herzegovina must never again become victims of hatred

(Patria) - Ambassadors of the Peace Implementation Council Steering Board (PIC SB) met today in Potočari on the occasion of the 30th anniversary of the genocide in Srebrenica.

Members of the Committee of Heads of leading international organizations also attended the session. The session was held at the Srebrenica-Potočari Memorial Center in support of efforts to mark the 30th anniversary of the genocide in Srebrenica and to pay tribute to the memory of its victims.

Members of the leadership of the Srebrenica-Potočari Memorial Center, along with representatives of victims' associations, presented the plans for marking the 30th anniversary of the genocide to the session participants, expressing deep respect for their tireless commitment to truth and justice as foundations for building trust and lasting peace and stability.

"By holding the meeting in Potočari, this unique place of remembrance, we once again confirm the international community's commitment to supporting the General Framework Agreement for Peace and the achievements made during the three decades of its implementation," said Christian Schmidt, High Representative and Chair of the Peace Implementation Council Steering Board.

The Memorial Center in Potočari is a state institution of exceptional importance, with a clearly defined mandate to preserve the memory of Srebrenica, and to contribute to the prevention of any violence based on ethnic affiliation through education, recognition, and reconciliation.

"The staff of the Memorial Center have the qualifications and abilities to create a vision of sincere dialogue among all peoples and peaceful coexistence. This is about remembrance and about drawing the right conclusions. Citizens of Bosnia and Herzegovina must never again become victims of hatred, incitement, or violence due to their origin, religious, or ethnic affiliation," emphasized High Representative Christian Schmidt.

Participants took this opportunity to once again emphasize the firm support of the international community for the sovereignty, territorial integrity, and constitutional and legal order of Bosnia and Herzegovina and its continuous progress towards European and Euro-Atlantic integration.
