PFBiH - Džindić: Double standards of the Energy Community, one set of rules for RS, another for FBiH

SARAJEVO, (Patria) - Regardless of the fact that the Treaty establishing the Energy Community is an international treaty signed by the state of Bosnia and Herzegovina, which is, on that basis, responsible for fulfilling the obligations undertaken by the Treaty, it is undeniable that the entities, as constituent parts of Bosnia and Herzegovina and in accordance with the Constitution of Bosnia and Herzegovina, are also responsible for fulfilling the part of the undertaken obligations that are defined by their respective competencies.

This was stated by the Federal Minister of Energy, Industry and Mining, Nermin Džindić.

"We have committed ourselves, together with other members of the Energy Community, to establish a common electricity and gas market that will function according to the standards of the EU energy market with which we are integrating. In that direction, we have started by gradually adopting parts of the EU legal framework (acquis) in the areas of electricity, gas, environmental protection, competition, renewable energy sources, energy efficiency, oil, and statistics, which have been innovated and supplemented several times since 2005," Džindić added.

Džindić stated that the Energy Community has had one set of standards for RS in the past period, and another for the Federation of BiH.

"For example, we had an unimpeded green light for the construction of the Stanari Thermal Power Plant (TE) in RS, and at the same time, we are facing an attempted blockade regarding Block 7 in Tuzla, the construction of which, in accordance with high environmental and energy standards, will shut down three 50-year-old blocks and solve the heating issue for the entire Tuzla Canton," Minister Džindić stated, among other things.
