We have invested four billion euros in BiH, and our drivers are being arrested and humiliated in the EU, and we really cannot allow this anymore, Velibor Peulić, chief coordinator of the "Logistika BiH" Consortium, told RTRS.
Transporters, workers, and businessmen in BiH have been facing problems for months following the stricter application of EU provisions, which restrict work permits in EU countries and the digitalization process. After a warning strike in front of BiH institutions, transporters are announcing more radical responses.
- We have given the institutions the last three months to do their job. Unfortunately, we are no longer stopping at any promises; we only value what has been done. There was a warning parade in Sarajevo, a protest drive. We did not intend to show our strength, and we could have brought out three times more vehicles, about 1,500 trucks - says Peulić.
He emphasizes that an open letter has been sent to the Council of Ministers of BiH and that they expect concrete results.
- On May 5th, we will have a press conference, and on May 9th, we will have our Management Board meeting, where we will decide that we can mobilize 6,000 transport units at any moment. We are not threatening anyone, but do not test us - added Peulić.
Peulić points out that the only chapter closed with the EU is the one on transport.
- We are only interested in amendments to the regulations. We will neither warn anyone nor educate anyone anymore. Minister Forto has the opportunity to amend the regulations, to make a reform, but we will not remain silent any longer. There is no city in BiH where we do not have our cluster. If there is no solution, everything in BiH will be blocked - emphasized Peulić.
