Petrović: I will return Željo where it belongs

A press conference was held in the Blue Salon of the Grbavica Stadium, where FK Željezničar officially introduced the new head of the professional staff, Slavko Petrović, who said that positive pressure should not cause problems, reports the BiH news agency Patria.

- If a person starts with ambition and wants to achieve that ambition, they will succeed. I came to Željo for several reasons. It is a club as an example to everyone, I was here a year ago and what I found today was unrecognizable. A big step forward is visible. The second goal was to return the faltering giant, which is in a catastrophic position, to where it belongs. I think I am ready for such a situation and I think I have proven that in my work so far. I am familiar with the playing staff and I do not need any newcomers at the moment, and I think this club can be pulled out to where it belongs, said Petrović, adding:

- We will find out why some players played at 50 or 70 percent through discussions that will begin today in quarantine. I will not spare anyone. I am interested in one goal, and that is how to get Željo out of the crisis as quickly as possible. Long-term goals are to finish at the top of the table, and even longer-term, to reach the finals of the Champions League or the Europa League. We are aware that the team has fallen into a psychological crisis, this is a quality team, and it is impossible for us to be in ninth place.

Slavko Petrović was born on August 10, 1958, in Belgrade. In his coaching career, he managed the teams Alemannia Groß-Rohrheim, Amicitia Viernheim, Darmstadt, Carl Zeiss Jena, Fortuna Düsseldorf, Waldhof Mannheim, Zalaegerszegi TE, Borac Čačak, Rad Belgrade, and the team of Radnik from Bijeljina. FK Željezničar and Slavko Petrović have agreed on cooperation until the summer of 2018.
