Petrov confirmed: We want a joint government of SDP, HDZ and MOST!

Today, a meeting of members of MOST, the "third option" that achieved an unexpected result in the elections in Croatia and without whose support a government cannot now be formed, was held at the party headquarters, reports the Patria news agency. 

Prior to this, a delegation of MOST met with the SDP and the HDZ. Only Božo Petrov appeared at the press conference.

-MOST has opened talks with the HDZ and the SDP. We believe that Croatia needs unity at this moment. In MOST, we have managed to overcome worldview divisions, even though we were initially heterogeneous. We expect both sides to understand what the priority is, and that is the economy and that an attempt is made in Croatia to form a unified government. That is the only way reforms can be carried out. Unity is extremely necessary. We believe that at this moment we can be the moderator of the unity of the HDZ and the SDP. We believe that after 25 years they can stop the animosity and harsh words, at least for two years. That is necessary for the Republic of Croatia, Petrov said, adding that anything else would be a fraud on the voters on their part.

-In the coming period, the alignment of reforms on both sides will follow; after the first and second phases, the definition of the mandate-holder will follow, and that will be the final phase. This is just the beginning of the talks. Today we presented the main principles. Another condition is that we all sit down at the table together. We will also propose a mandate-holder for the government. We will discuss mandate-holders only after we agree on the first and second phases, Petrov said.

-What if they reject us? I believe there will be enough political wisdom, and that this will not happen, Petrov concluded, reports Index.
