PETITION: Sign to save Veliko Polje on Igman

SARAJevo, (Patria) - After information emerged in public that the regulatory plan "Igman/Veliko Polje" is planned to be adopted, which would allow further land sales on Igman.

"Upon reviewing the project, we can see that it enters parts of the second, third, and fourth category water protection zones. This part of Mount Igman should be an area of great importance not only for the Municipality of Hadžići but also for the entire Canton of Sarajevo due to its microclimate and one of the most suitable air spas in this part of Europe," state the initiators of the petition.

They add that we are "witnesses to what is happening and what happened to Babin Do, which experienced unprecedented urbicide, Veliko Polje must not suffer the same fate."

"Therefore, we propose that this project be put up for public debate, and that citizens, together with the Ministry of Spatial Planning and Communal Affairs, consider and harmonize the project, which would not be detrimental to the citizens of Hadžići and the Canton of Sarajevo. We also propose considering the option of granting land concessions, because we are sure that this project has a bright future, but in accordance with all legal and urban planning procedures, and thus reduce the possibility of the Municipality of Hadžići losing control over it forever. It is certain that this natural potential of Hadžići will be the main asset for sustainable development in the future," said the initiators of the petition.
