Five victims' associations respond to Szijjártó: You have placed Hungary in a small group of countries renouncing civilizational achievements

(Patria) - The Association of the Movement "Mothers of the Enclaves of Srebrenica and Žepa, the Association of Victims and Witnesses of Genocide, the Association "Žena Podrinja", the Association of Srebrenica Mothers, the Association of Women of Srebrenica sent a letter to the Government of Hungary, i.e., the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade and Minister Péter Szijjártó after he confirmed that Hungary will vote against the Resolution on the Genocide in Srebrenica at the UN General Assembly session.

"With your decision that Hungary will not support the Resolution on the Genocide in Srebrenica at the UN General Assembly, you have deeply offended the victims of genocide and placed Hungary in a small group of countries renouncing civilizational achievements.

It is important to emphasize that the narrative about the responsibility of the Serbian people comes exclusively from Aleksandar Vučić, the President of Serbia, and Milorad Dodik, the President of the Republika Srpska entity in Bosnia and Herzegovina. Never has anyone, except them and their followers, accused and called the Serbian people genocidal. UN court rulings have not done so either.

Courts established by the UN, such as the ICTY and the ICJ (International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia and the International Court of Justice), have established the responsibility of individuals for war crimes committed in the territories of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

With your action, you risk creating an irresponsible atmosphere that does not contribute to reconciliation and confronting the past. We express our regret for your decision not to support the Resolution on the genocide committed in Srebrenica.

Furthermore, we wish to inform you that anyone who denies the rulings of UN courts is not welcome in Srebrenica, nor at the site of the horrific crimes that the courts have designated as genocide," the letter states.
