Five students of deficit trades from Old Town received scholarships

The Municipality of Old Town awarded scholarships to five students, who officially signed contracts with Mayor Ibrahim Hadžibajrić today.

- These five students met the conditions of the Public Call published at the end of April this year, and this scholarship is for the past school year 2016/2017 - explained the competent Service for Education, Culture and Sport.

The imminent publication of the call for the upcoming school year 2017/2018 was also announced. For this call, additional efforts will be made to include students of old traditional crafts, in addition to students of deficit trades, as unfortunately, there were none in this call.

The main goal of this scholarship awarding initiative is to motivate young people to opt more for vocational training, which leads to employment and solutions for existential needs much faster. This is precisely what Mayor Hadžibajrić, the scholarship recipients, and their parents, who signed the contracts on behalf of their children as they are minors, discussed the most today.

Among the scholarship recipients is a graduating student from the Secondary School for Textiles, Leather and Design Sarajevo, majoring in tailoring, Nirmela Smajić:

- I learned about the scholarship thanks to the school secretary. Since this was a late call and I will receive the money for the entire 2016/2017 school year at once, I will use it for a summer vacation. Nirmela also used this opportunity to show the dresses she made for her final project, and she hopes to find a job as a tailor, which she loves very much, starting this autumn.

Her colleague from the same school, but majoring in dry cleaning, Lejla Ljubović, is also very happy about receiving the scholarship.

- Starting from the new school year, practical training in a dry cleaning facility is planned, which I am looking forward to, as we will learn additional things in this profession. I hope that because of this, we will get secure employment afterwards - said Lejla. In addition to Lejla and Nirmela, the students who signed the contract today for a scholarship of 80.00 KM per month for nine months of the 2016/2017 school year are: Nejla Klapuh (tailor), Emir Bičakčić (dry cleaner), and Bakir Ljubović (dry cleaner).
