(Patria) - Pensioners from Tuzla and Tuzla Canton are protesting today.
Besides pension increases, they say they will demand that pensioners be given back their dignity, as more and more of them are living on the brink of poverty, and they have given the decency of their lives for this country, as they say.
Due to low pensions, almost all pensioners in the Federation have long forgotten about any luxury, especially those with minimal incomes. Out of 537 KM, which is the minimum pension, after paying utility bills and buying medication, they don't even have enough left to buy all the basic groceries, especially now, when prices are rising day by day. The president of the Association of Pensioners' Unions of TK, Haso Halilović, points out that many pensioners eat at the Soup Kitchen.
Because of all this, pensioners' associations in the Federation are seeking amendments to the Law on Pension and Disability Insurance. These amendments would allow for regular and extraordinary pension increases during this year. Until pension increases occur, pensioners say they will continue to hold protests.
