Pellets under constant supervision, and prices still rising?

(Patria) - The Federal Ministry of Trade has warned about unjustified and speculative increases in the prices of heating pellets on the market of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina, emphasizing that the prices of production components and processing costs have remained unchanged.

The Ministry states that, despite stable input costs, cases of price increases have been recorded, which represents an illegal attempt to achieve excess profits during the season of increased demand.

The Federal Ministry of Trade, in cooperation with competent inspection authorities, has initiated intensified controls to determine any violations of the Law on Price Control and other regulations.

- All entities found to be speculatively setting prices, failing to report price changes, or withholding data from competent authorities will be strictly sanctioned, including fines, business bans, and other legally prescribed measures - the Federal Ministry of Trade announced.

Citizens are urged to report any case of sudden and unfounded increase in pellet prices to market and inspection authorities, with a note that consumer protection and ensuring fair market conditions are a priority for the Government of the Federation of BiH and the Federal Ministry of Trade.

In order to find solutions for market stabilization, the Federal Minister of Trade, Amir Hasičević, announced a meeting with pellet producers at the beginning of next week. The Ministry called on all producers and distributors to behave responsibly and comply with legal regulations, with a warning that rigorous measures will be taken against those who try to profit at the expense of citizens.
