FBiH House of Representatives: Draft Law on the Environmental Protection and Energy Efficiency Fund Unanimously Supported

SARAJEVO, (Patria) - During the debate, Federal MPs pointed to the need to adopt the Draft Law on the Environmental Protection and Energy Efficiency Fund of FBiH.

The Draft Law on the Environmental Protection and Energy Efficiency Fund of FBiH contains the sensitive issue of the division of competencies between FBiH and the cantons, said the President of the HDZ BiH Club, Marian Klaić.

MP Senaid Begić commented on fees and contributions to the Fund.

"The largest contribution to the Fund comes from the residents of the Zenica-Doboj Canton (ZDK), almost twice the average in FBiH. Also, there are 10 important recommendations for improving the Fund's work," said Begić, adding that the Analytical Report on the Fund's work is an important item and that certain things need to be improved in its preparation.

According to him, the number of inhabitants of the canton should be taken into account when distributing funds.

Azra Hadžić - Bećirspahić stated that Bihać has not had the right to apply for years, and that the law is well-prepared.

MPs supported three conclusions related to the Draft Law on the Environmental Protection and Energy Efficiency Fund of FBiH: 1. The House of Representatives accepts the Draft Law on the Environmental Protection and Energy Efficiency Fund of FBiH; 2. The proposer is tasked with conducting a public debate lasting 60 days; 3. The Government of FBiH is tasked with taking into account remarks and proposals when drafting this law.

MPs are currently considering the Draft Law on Hospitality of FBiH.

The House of Representatives previously approved the Bill on Environmental Protection.

The goals of this law, as stated by the Government of FBiH when determining the bill, are reduced use, prevention of environmental burden and pollution.

Prevention of disruption, as well as improvement and restoration of damaged environment. Protection of health, including the right to a healthy life, preservation and protection of natural resources and their rational use.

Among the reasons for adopting the Law on Environmental Protection are the preservation, protection, restoration and improvement of the ecological quality and capacity of the environment, as well as the quality of life. Then, measures and conditions for management, preservation and rational use of natural resources. Legal measures and institutions for preservation, protection and improvement of environmental protection, financing of environmental activities and voluntary measures and tasks of administrative bodies at different levels of government.
The current legal framework for environmental protection in the Federation of BiH is the Law on Environmental Protection, which entered into force in 2003.

MPs also supported the Draft Law on Amendments to the Law on Police Officers.
