Beekeepers plant linden trees to boost bee pasture

Beekeepers in Bosnia and Herzegovina are planting linden trees and other honey-producing plants to enrich bee pasture, writes the BH news agency Patria (NAP).

The last decade, and especially the last three years, have been difficult for beekeepers in Bosnia and Herzegovina due to the lack of nectar in nature, caused by sudden and frequent temperature fluctuations, insufficient cultivated agricultural land, and massive deforestation.

To mitigate these consequences, beekeepers are increasingly planting honey-producing plants around their apiaries to enrich bee pasture.

The beekeepers' association "Lipa" from Bosanska Krupa distributed 130 seedlings of white large-leaved linden to the members of this association, which they will plant near their apiaries. Beekeepers explain that linden is very rich in nectar, and linden honey fetches a very good price on the market, writes NAP.
