Pavlović: The greatest burden of salary cuts in RS will be borne by those with the lowest incomes

Economic analyst Zoran Pavlović believes that the Budget of Republika Srpska for 2017 has been cosmetically modified according to the demands of the International Monetary Fund (IMF), primarily in the area of salary reductions for public sector employees.

The National Assembly of the BiH entity Republika Srpska adopted, under an urgent procedure, the budget for the next year in the amount of 3.2 billion KM. The budget also envisages salary cuts for public sector employees.

The President of RS, Milorad Dodik, announced that salaries for public sector employees will be reduced by about 20 KM. This sparked a revolt among employees, who protested in front of the NSRS in mid-December.

- Unfortunately, no selection was made between low-paid civil servants, such as administrative staff in courts, and those who are best paid and with additional privileges. Essentially, the greatest burden will be borne precisely by those numerous individuals with the lowest incomes, which are even below the minimum personal income – said Pavlović in an interview for the portal Vijesti.ba, as reported by Patria.
