Patriotic League of RBiH opposed the armed force preparing to destroy us

In Travnik, a formal academy was held last night as part of the commemoration of the 23rd anniversary of the Consultation of Regional Commanders of the Patriotic League of the Republic of Bosnia and Herzegovina. Prior to that, a visit was organized to the Central Martyr's Cemetery where delegations laid flowers on the memorial, reports the Patria News Agency.

- 23 years ago, the First Consultation of Regional Commanders of the Patriotic League of the Republic of Bosnia and Herzegovina was held in the village of Mehurići. In that distant year of 1992, through the meeting of the commanders, tasks and goals for the defense of Bosnia and Herzegovina were set.

Those were times of great difficult decisions, times of brave endeavors and events, and this event is undoubtedly the most significant in the creation of a free Bosnia and Herzegovina. With the formation of the Patriotic League, better organized armed forces were created, whose unity provided decisive resistance against the aggressor in all parts of Bosnia and Herzegovina, said Tahir Lendo, Prime Minister of the Central Bosnia Canton, on behalf of the hosts.

Tasks defined in the Directives for the Defense of BiH Sovereignty

- The consultation, whose 23rd anniversary we are commemorating, viewed from this temporal distance, is a historic consultation for several reasons and holds a special place in the recent history of Bosnia and Herzegovina. At the end of the consultation, each commander of the Regional Staff of the Patriotic League of BiH was given concrete tasks with deadlines for execution.

Everything is documented in the Directives for the Defense of Bosnia and Herzegovina's Sovereignty, said General Džemal Merdan, one of the participants of the Consultation of Regional Commanders of the Patriotic League of RBiH in Mehurići.

- In such conditions, the Patriotic League, together with the police, made a huge contribution to the defense of the country. Unfortunately, this is not valued today. Members of the Patriotic League are the first fighters of the liberation war, they were the first to oppose the armed force that was preparing to simply destroy us at a certain time. Thank God, we succeeded and defended ourselves, said Avdo Hebib, long-time president of PLBiH and recognized for the inclusion and role of the police in the defense of BiH.
