Parliamentarians Call for Adoption of Public-Private Partnership Law

(Patria) - A group of deputies in the House of Representatives of the Parliament of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina has called on the Government of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina to initiate activities on the adoption of the Law on Public-Private Partnership in FBiH.

Deputies Hajrudin Žilić, Lana Prlić, Mirsad Čamdžić, and Irfan Čengić remind the Government of the Federation that the House of Representatives adopted a set of conclusions obliging the Government of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina to submit this law to the Parliamentary procedure, as the Federation of BiH is the only level of government in Bosnia and Herzegovina that does not have this law, nor other by-laws.

"We hereby call once again on the Government of FBiH to organize a joint meeting at which we will present the working material for the Law on Public-Private Partnership of FBiH, which was prepared in cooperation with NDI - the National Democratic Institute.

The goal of this law is to establish a clear, non-discriminatory, and effective legal framework for the implementation of projects in the field of public-private partnership, which will improve the standard of public services within the jurisdiction of public authorities at the FBiH level through the participation of the private sector, while also promoting conditions for further economic growth and development in the FBiH, and ensuring relief in the budgets of the Federation of BiH.

We remind the Government of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina that this law is part of the reform agenda and is designated as one of the priorities for economic development in the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina, which is particularly evident in the conditions of the pandemic and the post-pandemic economic recovery in FBiH.

We have a sincere desire to work on this law together with the Government of FBiH, and we want the Government of FBiH to be the formal proposer of this law that we have prepared, and we will strive to ensure broad support in the Parliament of FBiH. The fact that the House of Representatives of the Parliament supported the conclusions for the adoption of this law clearly shows that there is a parliamentary majority that will adopt this law.

The group of deputies also submitted an official proposal to the Speaker of the House today to include the Law on Public-Private Partnership in the Work Program of the House of Representatives of the Parliament of the Federation of BiH for 2021," it was announced.
