Bosnia and Herzegovina Parliament considers reducing electoral threshold on lists to 10 percent

SARAJEVO, (Patria) - Members of the House of Representatives of the Parliamentary Assembly of Bosnia and Herzegovina are expected to vote today on amendments to the Election Law proposed by the Social Democratic Party (SDP) under an urgent procedure.
These amendments stipulate that the internal threshold on electoral lists should be returned to 10 percent, which a candidate must achieve from the total number of votes won by a party to enter the legislative body. The SDP believes that the 10 percent threshold represents the best balance between the will of the party forming the candidate list for elections and the will of the citizens.

Also before the representatives will be a proposal by SDP BiH MP Saša Magazinović for consideration of amendments to the Criminal Code under an urgent legislative procedure, which would regulate the criminal law protection of national monuments.

The agenda also includes amendments to the law on protection of persons reporting corruption in BiH institutions, on communications, on civil service, and on independent and supervisory bodies of the police structure, as well as the Report on the work of the Independent Board of the PSBiH as an independent body of the police structure.
