Parking near the National Theatre soon operational

At a meeting held in the Municipality of Centar Sarajevo on Friday, November 13, 2015, representatives of this local community and the Ministry of Transport and the Prosecutor's Office of Sarajevo Canton, in principle, agreed that for the purpose of temporarily reactivating the parking space near the National Theatre, the Ministry of Transport of Sarajevo Canton would support this initiative, i.e., give written consent for this space to be put back into operation, reports the BH News Agency Patria.

The meeting, led by Nedžad Ajnadžić, President of the Centar Municipality Council, on behalf of the Municipality of Centar, was attended by Jasna Beba, Secretary of the Municipal Administrative Body, Mustafa Resić, Advisor to the Municipal Mayor Dževad Bećirević, Alma Sadović, Assistant Mayor for Spatial Planning and Communal Affairs, and Suanita Melunović, Municipal Prosecutor. Sarajevo Canton was represented by Mujo Fišo, Minister of Transport of Sarajevo Canton, and Kemal Karić, Prosecutor.

Also attending the meeting were Haris Vlajčić, Advisor to the President of the Council, and Hajrudin Mulić, Director of the company "Centrotrans".

Ajnadžić stated that both the executive and legislative authorities of the Municipality of Centar have an interest in putting this space into operation so that the collected funds can be used to solve the vital issues of our fellow citizens.

- While the utility company "Rad" managed the aforementioned parking lot, annual revenues amounted to KM 770,000, and six people worked there. This space has been neglected for years, which is why the Centar Municipal Council and Mayor Bećirević agree that the site, owned by the Municipality of Centar, should be put back into operation so that revenues can be shared by the Municipality and Sarajevo Canton, Ajnadžić emphasized.

Advisor Resić added that it is of particular interest to the Municipality of Centar for this former parking space to be operational again and worthy of the capital city.

- In the last ten years, more than 2,000 parking spaces have been built in the central zone of the Centar municipality to solve this major problem of traffic congestion in Sarajevo - Resić pointed out.

According to Minister Fišo, the competent cantonal ministry supports the idea of reactivating the parking lot near the National Theatre.

- The Ministry has initiated a procedure to connect all private and public parking lots in Sarajevo Canton into a unified information system so that citizens can receive timely information about available parking spaces. This will also improve revenue collection - Fišo concluded.
