Friendship Forest Park on Grdonj to be opened this year

SARAJEVO, (Patria) - The Friendship Forest Park in Bosnia and Herzegovina, which is being built on Grdonj, in the municipality of Stari Grad, will be completed by the middle of this year, it was confirmed at a meeting of Mayor Ibrahim Hadžibajrić and the director of the Public Company "Sarajevo-šume", Nermin Demirović. The Stari Grad municipality will also demonstrate its support for the implementation of this project by financing the installation of public lighting on the road leading to the park.

The first Friendship Forest Park in Bosnia and Herzegovina will cover an area of six hectares. The project is being implemented by the Forests of the Republic of Turkey and the Public Company "Sarajevo-šume", while the Stari Grad municipality previously issued the necessary urban planning and construction permits and financed the purchase of water tanks installed at this location. Municipal services will go to the field as soon as possible and initiate procedures for introducing public lighting at this location, for which funds have already been secured.

The idea of building this park has existed for several years, when the Republic of Turkey expressed a desire to build such a park outside its borders for the first time. A total of 29 facilities will be installed throughout the area: fountains, coolers, souvenir shops, five public drinking fountains, an amphitheater, a restaurant, a gatehouse... In addition, the Friendship Forest Park will also have a small artificial lake, a picnic area, a children's playground and an outdoor fitness area, as well as a large viewpoint. The value of this project is around 400,000 KM. From the Public Company "Sarajevo-šume", it was announced that at the beginning of the operation of the Friendship Forest Park, entry for visitors will not be charged.
