Nermin Nikšić's Parallel Reality: EC Report Realistic, Blockade Factor Politicians from RS

(Patria) - FBiH Prime Minister Nermin Nikšić sees positive signals in today's European Commission progress report, although BiH did not receive a recommendation for the European Council to approve the start of negotiations with BiH in December.

However, for Nikšić, this is still "confirmation of the correctness of our policy of compromise and dialogue.

"For the past eight years, Bosnia and Herzegovina has been stagnating when it comes to reforms on the path to the EU. When we took office in May, we knew we had a difficult job ahead of us, but we were committed to working. The result of this is the adoption of some European laws in the federal and state Parliaments and the best European Commission progress report on Bosnia and Herzegovina to date. This is a sufficient indicator of the results of our work in the past six months and an excellent basis for a positive decision on opening negotiations in December.

Furthermore, the EU report confirmed the correctness of our policy of compromise and dialogue, as opposed to the policy of populism that dominates the BiH political scene.
Reforms neglected for years cannot be implemented in a few months, but progress can be made, which I believe we have achieved. However, the process must be fully completed, and we are aware of that. The European Commission's stance is just an additional incentive. I consider the European Commission's report to be realistic, as it is based on an assessment of what has been done, which is the best option for BiH. We don't need additional gifts, but the harsh truth about whether and how much we are willing to recognize the advantages and benefits of membership through pre-accession reforms.

BiH is in focus, and the EU has done everything necessary to facilitate us. The report lists the progress we have made, but also includes constructive criticism. We expected there to be criticisms because we are aware that the dynamics of the reform process are not going as we would like, due to numerous obstructions we face. The EU is also aware of this, so the criticisms primarily relate to politicians from Republika Srpska, who are clearly identified as a factor of blockades.

Therefore, it is clear that it is very difficult to achieve the progress we would like, but we have managed to do much more than in previous years.
I expect all actors in BiH in the period ahead, especially us in the ruling coalition at all levels, to get to work and finish what we started. I remind you that the EU also overcame internal political and economic disputes on its path to the community it is today. Let's take that as an example," Nikšić stated.

In his address, Nikšić only forgot the fact that the same politicians who are a factor of blockades are also his coalition partners at the state level, so it is unrealistic to expect them to suddenly become a constructive factor while threatening secession, returning competencies, and passing unconstitutional and anti-European laws...
