Papić: Every seventh or eighth employee in BiH works in administration, which is too many

In June this year, the Agency for Statistics of Bosnia and Herzegovina recorded slightly more than 725,000 employed people in the country and around 520,000 unemployed, writes NAP.

Analysts are particularly concerned that around 90,000 employed people work in administration, which is a huge burden on the already fragile economy of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Economic analyst Žarko Papić said that every seventh or eighth employed person in the country works in administration, which is too many.

- This produces a fiscal deficit, which is mostly covered by loans, which is terrible - Papić told BHT1.

The economy of Bosnia and Herzegovina is further burdened by public companies, which often employ more workers than necessary. This situation arose because ruling political parties excessively hired party cadres, who later serve as a secure voting machine. Salaries in public companies are better than in private firms, and in addition, people work much less, writes NAP.
