(Patria) - Pope Francis will not lead New Year's religious services due to back and right leg pain, the Vatican announced today.
This is the first time Pope Francis, who turned 84 this month, will not attend a service for health reasons.
Cardinal Giovanni Battista Re will lead the service instead of Pope Francis, and on Friday, Secretary of State Cardinal Pietro Parolin.
The Pope will lead the midday mass on January 1st as scheduled.
