Okerić's report rejected, what is the purpose of SERDA's existence?

The report on the implementation of the "SERDA Activity Plan" for the period from January 1 to December 31, 2013, was not adopted at today's session of the City Council of Sarajevo, writes the BiH news agency Patria.

During this period, SERDA (Sarajevo Economic Regional Development Agency) and its director Šefkija Okerić signed 19 protocols and agreements "thanks to which SERDA achieved operational capacity in project implementation".

Given that the City of Sarajevo is one of SERDA's co-founders, no one could answer the question of what would happen to the report. Councilor Hasan Hodžić said that one of the advisors to the President of the City Council asked him what "he has against Šefkija Okerić". He asked them to tell him "who Šefkija Okerić is at all and what connection Šefkija Okerić has with SERDA".

The report submitted by SERDA to the City of Sarajevo does not show the total revenues versus expenditures. As presented in the report, funds were generated from several sources: from the Sarajevo Canton – 500,000 KM, from the Centar Municipality – 33,000 KM. In the period January – December 2013, an average of 22 employees were engaged, all under employment contracts. Operational costs for the observed period of 2013 amounted to 466,663.71 KM.

One of the projects SERDA listed in its report is the "Trolleybus Dobrinja Ring", for which it is stated that "there were no significant progress in the project implementation".

According to SERDA, one of the most significant events was the celebration of the 10th anniversary of this Agency.

The project "Year-round tourism in mountain destinations of BiH and Montenegro" – 365, which began in December 2012, aimed to revitalize the mountain tourist centers of Bjelašnica and Igman in BiH, and Bjelasica and Prokletije in Montenegro.

However, by the end of 2013, the implementation had not even started. The report states that the local partner is JKP ZOI '84, and in the first six months of 2013, the emphasis of the project was on familiarizing the project partners with their tasks and obligations. In September, the tender procedures for the selection of local consultants for the creation of the best tourist products were completed. In November, a report on tourist products was presented, followed by a tender procedure for the selection of the most favorable supplier for promotional material printing services. Our source from ZOI '84 stated that this project has not taken off on Igman and Bjelašnica, nor is it known when it will.
