Pandurević: RS Government has been buying social peace with debt for more than a decade

BANJA LUKA, (Patria) - Vice President of the Serbian Democratic Party (SDS) Aleksandra Pandurević stated today that the Government of Republika Srpska has been buying social peace with megalomaniacal debts for more than a decade, and in the end we have a struggling economy and a mass exodus of the working-age population from RS.

She added that in 2006, every 11th mark from the budget went to debt repayment, while in 2018, every second mark of budget revenue is allocated for these purposes.

Pandurević recalled that during this period of continuous SNSD rule, Republika Srpska sold its significant resource, Telekom, for one billion and 200 million marks, while the FBiH still owns its two telecom operators.

- That is not all. In 2018, the FBiH canceled all planned auctions of long-term bonds, while the RS Government borrowed 320 million on the Vienna Stock Exchange, and it borrowed from six domestic banks at an interest rate three percent higher than it would have been here - Pandurević emphasized.

In this way, she says, the current government tried to throw dust in the eyes of the public, making it seem like we are an important factor, or that the exposure of our banks to the RS Government was too great for them to continue granting loans, so they resorted to foreign options.

She says all this could have been done differently, without enormous borrowing.

- By relieving the economy of fiscal and parafiscal levies, you open the possibility for creating new jobs and increasing revenue, because when you have a strong economy, repaying a loan here and there is not a problem - emphasized the Vice President of SDS.

She stated that SDS, together with its coalition partners, is confident that things will be set differently from October 8th.

- I hope we will lay healthy foundations for the renewal of Republika Srpska and that the priority of the new government, led by Vukota Govedarica and Mladen Ivanić, will be stronger economic activity, jobs for all who want to work and earn honestly, not megalomaniacal debts. As Nenad Stevandić once said, this government borrows like an addict, the more they take, the higher the dose they need - Pandurević concluded.
